William Lawson Grocer Edinburgh
« on: Friday 26 September 08 11:39 BST (UK) »
I'm tracing the Lawson family in Temple, does anyone have the graveyard records for Temple or any leads that might help me particularly 18th century. Names: John Lawson married to Isabella Ketchen at Temple in 1829; David Lawson (b. around 1758) married to Elizabeth Selkirk.

I have just completed the 1888-1996 burial records, there are no Lawsons buried in Temple, however there were another four burial grounds nearby, Carrington, Whitehill Aisle, Clerkington and Mount Lothian, the latter two no longer exist.

These are names known in the area in 1694

Stephen Lawsone was a tennant farmer at Nether Toxide, Isobell Dalgleish was his wife, George and Robert were his sons and Marion was his daughter.

At the same date there was a Stephen Lawsone ( Possibly a cousin ) at the same place above also a tennant, married to Jean Hastie, later on the Hastie family appear as Stone Masons.

I have a John Lawson who was a stepson to William Millar and Margaret Thomsone, they resided at a place called Syde.

James Lausone for the Mill and the Farm at Corslet which was attached to the Mill.

Margaret Lawsone was a Cottar ( Owned a Cottage ).

Best

Archie

I am a descendant of John Ketchen and Jane Alexander and as the Lawson line  crosses into the Ketchen line I have information which I am willing to share and should this thread still be alive would love to hear from anyone.
Cheers
Janet
