James and Lucy Smith 1871
« on: Wednesday 24 September 08 22:46 BST (UK) »
Hello,
Would someone be kind enough to look up the 1871 census for Lucy Smith b 1831-3. please?  She was born Bucklebury. In 1861 she was Lucy Ford wife of Jonathan with children Alfred 3 and Mary Jane 1 both born Bucklebury. Jonathan seems to have died in 1862, and in 1868 Lucy appears to have married James Smith in Whitchurch Hants reg dist. If this is the same Lucy then she is with him and 3 Ford children all born Bucklebury in Lancashire in 1881.
Thanks
Regards
Vicwinann

Hello,
Lucy Cripps was my great x2 grandmother. She was born in Bucklebury Berkshire 1831 and was Baptised there in Oct 1831.She married my great x 2 grandfather Jonathan Ford in 1856. Joanthan died in 1867. She married James Smith in 1868. They lived in Hampshire and moved to Lancashire where James had a carriage business. He was killed in an accident with a runaway horse in 1893. Lucy continued to live in Newton Le Willows until her death in  July 1895.
She had 6 children: Alfred George Ford my Great Grandfather1857-1916, Mary Jane Ford 1859-1916, Morris Ford 1863-1924, Jane/Jennet Ford 1865-1905, James Ford 1867 and Harriet Smith 1870-1874.
I have lots more information about my great Grandparents and their parents.
Kind regards
Margaret Stephenson

Hello Margaret,
This is great.  I will send you a private message and perhaps we can then discuss things more fully. I am not a close relation at all but I did do some research on this linked family a couple of years ago and it will be good to be able to confirm my research.  Some of which you have done already.
Yours
