Kelly family in Miltown Malbay
« on: Monday 22 September 08 04:01 BST (UK) »
Hello All,

I am looking for any information or history on Kelly families that live in the Miltown area of County Clare.  My great great grandfather was Terance (Terrance, Terence) Kelly and his wife is Ellen Kelly.  They left Ireland in the 1840s and first lived in Mass. before moving on to Wisconsin.  Ellen`s father, Patrick, lived with them in Mauston, Wisconsin at the time of his death.  Their graves state they came from Miltown in Co. Clare, Ireland.   At the moment, I am interested in any Kelly information from the present back to 1800.

Hi

Take a look at

http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/genealog.htm

where you'll find a wealth of Clare information covering a long period.

Cheers

Have you checked their death certificates to see if birthdates/places, parents, etc. are listed? Quite often U.S. death certificates do provide such details.
Unfortunately it will not be easy researching Kellys (or any other family) in Ireland as civil registration of births, deaths and Catholic marriages began 1864 and 1st complete census for Ireland is 1901.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
