Every now and again- we all hit a road block- or a speed bump that bottoms out your car...lol...well I have one that has put my "car" in the shop indefinitely...
I am looking for more information on James Wilcox- born England (that's all I know!!) ca 1821... emigrated to Ontario, Canada ca 1833 per 1901 census (which may or may not be correct). He settled in Durham, Ontario and married Eliza Carson (of Monaghan, Ireland) abt 1849. (I have everything on Eliza and her line)
James and Eliza had the following children:
James b ca 1850
Martha b ca 1852
Mary Eliza b ca 1855
Robert Carson b ca 1858
David Carson b ca 1862
All children were born in Port Hope, Durham County.
James and Robert went south, James to New York and Robert to Michigan. David stayed in Ontario and died there in 1945.
Martha, my second G-Grandmother, also stayed in Ontario- married Thomas Ballagh Carson, and had five daughters.
James Wilcox is last seen in the 1901 Canadian census of London, Middlesex, Ontario- staying with his daughter, Martha.
I cannot for the life of me find James' death- nor any immigration information for him. He is listed in 71/81/91/01 censuses, but I cannot find him in the earlier censuses with any level of certainty. In the 1871, he is listed in Perth County, and in the same household is a William Wilcox, aged 60 (may or may not be accurate), born at sea. I am thinking William may be a sibling of James'- but I really have no idea and have been grasping at straws with this line.
Even trying to follow through with James Jr and Robert in the States I come up empty- James Jr disappears after the 1910 census- and I cannot find his wife or children, and Robert & wife disappear after the 1920 (no apparent children).
Am hoping if we can find James Sr's death- we might be lucky enough to find a County of birth in England for him.
Thank you in advance for your time spent reading my book- lol.
