Hi
I'm new to the board, but I have been researching the Keats' of Dorset for a few years now.
I go back to William Keate at East Lulworth (birth circa 1615) and Robert Keat of Corfe Castle (birth circa 1625)
They are all around this area and my Keats who came to Newfoundland, was Robert born 1767 at Wareham. That area is very hard to trace because of the fire.
I have followed them from those two places into Langton Matravers to Church Knowle and finally Wareham. Robert's (1667) grandparents died at Creech, Dorset.
The only Keats in the 1641 Oath, that I can find, was William, so I haven't been able to find where they may have come from into the Corfe area. I am only dependant on the on-line records of Dorset, so I am a bit limited, but they are great.
Other names linked to the Keats' are Newman, Colbourne, Biddlecombe, Barnes, Furseman, Stockley and many others.
I would love to hear from someone interested in these names.
Is there a site that lists the 1641 Oath?
