Old Meeting House Dudley
« on: Sunday 21 September 08 19:05 BST (UK) »
I am a new member - well a returned member after a long absence.
I know that some of my husband's Mincher family were baptised in the Old meeting House Dudley  from Phoebe in 1758 to Hannah (Nancy) in 1764.
I am particularly interested in John 1761 who we think was transported for 7 years to America for stealing barley.
I should be very interested to hear from anyone who is researching this family.
Have these Baptismal records been transcribed does anyone know?  I think they may be in the Staffordshire record Office. Miriam M

Re: Old Meeting House Dudley - at the Park
« Reply #2 on: Thursday 25 September 08 08:58 BST (UK) »
I started writing a reply and then lost it!
This is a second go.
I followed the advice above and ordered the CD on Non-Parochial registers for Dudley 1656 - 1837 and only found the information which I had already found on the IGI for the five children of John Mincher and Phebe baptised 1758 to 1764. I had hoped to find the marriage information of John and Phebe. It is included in some cases but not here.
The baptismal information is standard and for three of the children it just says 'OF DUDLEY'.
However the first two children the info. differs and it says 'AT THE PARK'.
Interesting! I am wondering if there is anyone with knowledge of Dudley who can explain this phrase.
I also wondered if this query belongs to Worcs. but when I did a Wikipedia search I found out that Dudley for many years, formed part of an exclave of Worcestershire entirely surrounded by Staffordshire.
Thank you
