John and Naomi's parents were George McKay Critchley and Margaret (nee Kane)

Hi Angie

You would have to create a new posting in the Main Lancashire forum "not this lookup forum".

Also any jpeg which is uploaded must be less than 500k in size.

It would also help in the hunt for the family with not crossing over with Alma's posting.

A have also sent you a PM

Regards
Ken

The Machrays are in my family, and I have been to the Southern Cemetery to find the graves.
I found the headstone of Alexander (d1899) and Sophia Machray (d1929) under some bushes. There were no other names on the headstone.
I looked for the "1215, Mackray" headstone, but have since found out that although the first grave was in the C of E section, the 1215 grave is in the non-conformist section. I haven't been back to look though.
By the way, don't you think that Percy Thackery could just be a very bad transcription of Machray, especially as the date is very close to his death?
After all it is spelt wrongly on just about every document you see.
I'm trying to track down his mother Jane Machray (and father John Hutchinson Norris? )They seem to disappear in 1841 and 1851.
Jane is the sister of my g g grandmother Elizabeth Machray, father Alexander Machray.

Hello again everyone!

I am just posting this to advise that I have had some success thanks to my request to the NZ Soc Genealogists re a query for a lookup of  the Irish Memorial Records 1914-1918 as they have just added this to their collection.  - Not in them however -

To my suprise I was informed that the information was up on the 'net all the time in that  the familysearch.org website has a Pilot there : http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=search_all1.asp&clear_form=true

From the drop-down menu "Search Records" choose "Record Search Pilot".

On the world map, click on "Europe". Towards the bottom of the page there is a link to Ireland Civil Registration Indexes.

Spouses cannot be linked but as I knew the Surname of Naomi Critchley's spouse was "Costello" the process was very useful .

To my shame I consider myself quite clued up in Irish family history so this was a wake up call to keep up to date with what is happening on often used family history websites.

The couple married in Waterford after World War I - so thanks all

Alma
