Sorry but it would seem that I have somehow posted to the wrong thread.  Sorry about that.  I will try again

I have started a new Kirton thread.  Otherwise with all the other names in this thread, there is a grave danger of it getting totally muddied.
Hope to hear from Ettie and/or Leggy on the new thread
Regards

Hi Cousin Leggy.....you've got the right ones, the Kerton as we were called...my maiden name is Kerton and I have traced the descendants back to 1800s as well....there was a Martha married to John....and my gg was Henry, then my grandpa was Frederick born about 1882 in Harton Yorkshire...sounds like the same ones to me....this is very exciting....I knew my Uncle Albert and all the family of my Grampa Fred as they immigrated to Canada around the same time and died here and are buried  here or set out to sea(their ashes) and of course there are more family here too.  Do you live in Tilehurst?    I think my grandpa did have one brother that stayed in England was  a Minister in a Church, I thought his name was John but I am not too sure on that...their death anouncements are on the British Columbia Census . Iand available on-line, I did use Ancestry.com because it is available at the Libray I work....I also found an Fanny Kerton who appears to be a maiden Aunt that lives with John after Martha dies...I traced her back to the 1841 England census and she is living with her parents in  Tilehurst and they are William Kerton born 1771 in Berkshire and Sarah Kerton born in 1771 so they must be the parents of John born in 1814...so long for now I will definitely be in touch...Ettie (Ellen)

Hi there Ettie!
It would be good if we could share info but unfortunately I can't leave my e-mail address on this site. I've got a profile on Ancestry.com and I've entered John Kirton, Berkshire, England so hopefully if you do a search for him on community we'll be able to get in touch. Let me know if it doesnt work!
Best Wishes, Lynn.

Hi Lynn,
You can give Ettie your email address on this site  by sending her a private message which only she can see.

Hi Vicki!
Thanks for that! I feel such a dork....um, how do you send personal messages?!
I have read yours to me and will get back to you via your e-mail address as a lot of the names your have connections with are also connected to my tree-particularly Butler(my maiden name), Kirton, Woodley.
Thanks again!
Lynn  :)

Peggy I think we are tracing the same family!! My father was James Frederick Kirton Born 4th July 1921 his father was Frederick Kirton born Henley abt 1880.

I believe allthough I have not confirmed it yet that he was the son of John kirtin ( kirton) born abt 1818

I would be interested to know if anyone has any more info

Hello ajkirton,
I have a fair bit of information on the Kirtons (various spellings) and related families. If you send me a private message I will give you my email address. We can then correspond privately rather than boring people and wasting space.
