Ok! HAMBLIN connections stem from marriage of Ann Hamblin born c.1822 Bradfield d/o William & Sarah. Married Thomas Girdler(my GGGGrandfathers step-son.)
Elsie LOVEGROVE b.1923 Theale d/o Albert m.George Arthur Butler 1927.
CHAPMAN(Alice Elizabeth) is my maternal grandmothers maiden name. She died when my mum was quite young so have no solid info on her birth other than she was born 1901 and banns state she was residing in Dunsden (Oxon) at time of marriage. Possibility of Goring Heath area?
Anything there that rings a bell?!!

Hello,
I also have many of these Hamblins in my tree. One of my connections is with Dorcas Hamblin who married William Sellwood in 1905. The tree goes back to David chr 1818 son of William and Sarah who I have as Ann's (1822) brother.  Can we help each other, do you think?

It seems we have some common names, the earliest I have is William Hamblin (b: Goring, Oxon) married to Sarah Carter (b: c1794, Bradfield) From the IGI, I found 8 children born to William & Sarah Hamblin

Children (all from Bradfield):
John (bapt 8 Mar 1812)*
Sarah (bapt 2 Oct 1814)*
Sophia (bapt 23 Oct 1814)
David (bapt 4 Jan 1818)*
Anne (bapt 1 Sep 1822)*
William (bapt 13 Dec 1829)*
Charles (bapt 23 Nov 1834)*
George (bapt 13 Aug 1837)*

The asterisks mark the baptisms I have confirmed in the Parish Registers for Bradfield

John (1812) is my 3rd G-GFather, so I have his line all the way down to me, I also have info on William and his family but none of the others.

I have included a PDF of 4 generations from William & Sarah down

Hello,
Yes we are talking about the same family but you seem to have done far more work on them than I have.  My connection is back from Dorcas 1884 (don't have a christening, only censuses and her marriage in 1905 to William Sellwood) From her to parents George chr1852 marr Mary Maria Rivers, and from him to his father, David chr 1818 marr Martha Pearce.  I got stuck on finding out where David's father William came from.  Now I know.
Unfortunately, I will be going away on holiday tomorrow 20th Sept until the first week in October, so can we leave further discussion until then, please?
Thanks for letting me see the pdf.

Just a quickie before I go on holiday.  I was hoping that your information would solve a problem for me but it hasn't.  I am not happy about the evidence about William Hamblin and Sarah.  According to all the censuses from 1851 this William was born abt 1805 which means he can't have been having children in 1812 or married Sarah Carter.  According to the IGI (a submitted record, not collected) there was a William Hamblin and Sarah Knapp married in Bradfield in 1829.  I think, but cannot prove because I don't have access to Bradfield registers that these were the parents of William 1829, Charles 1834, and George 1837, and the earlier children were children of  William and Sarah nee Carter.  What it needs is the burials of the latter William and Sarah because there is only one such couple in the 1851 census. There is a burial in the Berkshire Burial Index in 1831 of Sarah age 64 "Wife of William Hamblin" which seems to prove my point,  but none for William himself. I have only just received the 1841 so don't know if he was still around then. Your comments would be appreciated.
