I emailed Middlesbrough Council on Sunday & today I received,in the post a photocopy of the plot & cemetery plan.I can see that D3 is in a section 1-5071/2,at the outer edge backing onto Burlam Road.I understand I cannot post attachments to lookup threads nor PM's.If you are willing to send me a pm.with your private email address I could forward the layout that way to you.(I quite understand if you do n't want to disclose it to me!) Hi flst,

Sadly I have to report that the three of us couldn't find the headstone for you.  I tried to phone the cemetery office to see if there should have been one, but no-one was there to take calls (forgot it was Saturday!).  Did you ask if there was a headstone, as the office should be able to tell you?

Odd really, as he only died in 1902.  I took a couple of pics of where it should have been, will post them tomorrow.

Here's a view of where the grave should be, (1)halfway between the lovely carved bird and the headstone to the right of the tree and (2) halfway between the tree and the stone bottom right:

 


If the cemetery office says there should be a headstone, we'll have to re-think!
