Hammond
« on: Thursday 18 September 08 14:00 BST (UK) »
I am hunting for the Hammond family who in 1901 were living in Heacham in Norfolk having moved there from Hertfordshire. The parents were Frederick and Alice and the children Montague and Cecilie. I think I have just found Montague's medal card but it doesn't tell me much. You would think with their christian names that they would be quite easy to trace. Montague was born in 1898 and Cecilie in 1900.

Can anyone give me any pointers as to how I might fin out more about this family.

Many thanks

Dear Eileen,

Many thanks  for your help with the Hammonds. My frustration is that I can't take them forward. My husband's Grandad was brought up with them but even he didn't know why. If only I could find some descendants I might be able to solve a big family mystery.

Once again, thank you.

Best wishes

Brigitte

Hi,

I am back on the Hammonds. Having just broken down one brickwall I am now taking on my biggest.

I have the Hammond family in 1911 living at Church St, Docking. The children are 12 and 10. Living with them is Claude (Claudie) Scoble aged 7. Actually his name was Vernon but Claude was his middle name. It is this nephew Vernon Claude who I am really hunting for or more to the point his mother Ellen Marie Calland-Scoble nee Hammond.

I am trying to find where on earth she went to after Vernon's birth in 1903 or descendants or Cecilie and Montague who might be able to help me.

If I write to a local newspaper can anyone suggest which one would be best?

Many thanks

Brig

Hi,

Well I have now found the thread that I posted regarding a newspaper back in 2006! Funny how long it can take us to come back around to something!!
