Hi Catherine

I would really appreciate it, when time permits, if you could check on a Henry Stanley, warrant #7931. I do have a copy of his police record but.....I believe from what I have for county, parish, post town is wrong & whoever wrote this in made an error.  What I have is...county - Galway, parish - Modreeny, Post town - Nenagh.  For one thing, Modreeny is I believe in Tipperary, not Galway. Recommended by a Dr. Murdock.

Thank you for your reply.

May you are correct, Modreeny is in county Tipperary. The DMP listing indicates its in Galway.  I have encountered this also, it appears the postal Town address sometimes may cross county boundaries.

This may be of use also

Hi. Thank you for your reply. Just wanted to make sure someone didn't write down the wrong place.  I will check out Griffiths. Thanks again.

Hello Catherine,

Would you be so kind as to do a look up for me in your book.

Alfred Edward Johnston born 1868 Gloucester England.

Assume we are talking about 1888 (when he would be about 20) to join.  I have him listed on census 1881 as a schoolboy, but he is not shown on 1891 or 1901 and I was told he was in an Irish Police Force so this would account for him not being listed in u.k.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Regards
J.

Hiya Jilly,

There was an Alfred Johnston in the RIC.
His registration No 52733 means he joined the force during the period 8th August 1883 - 10th April 1888.

All the Best, Christopher

Thanks Christopher,  I think this must be him as the age would tally.

How can I find out any more details, would I have to pay a fee and apply for a search by the RIC record office.

Or is there some way I could do it myself.

Regards
Jill

Hi Catherine,  Could you kindly look up in your book any information you can find about the following:

Alfred Edward Johnston born Gloucester England 1868
No 52733
Joined RIC between 8th August 1883 - 10th April 1888

I believe in fact he joined in 1887.

Am I right in thinking it lists all info. e.g. time in force if married, service record etc.

Would be most grateful for any help please.
Thanks
J.
