Hi Bob

I also found that if I tried to change the file name before saving I ended up with something my computer would not open.

All the best

Thanks for all the help/advice, but I still haven't found the 2 baptisms I'm after

Hannah Wright, born 1845+/- 1
Margaret Wright, born 1847 +/- 1

I think they were both the daughters of Joseph Wright and Elizabeth (?Turnbull)

anyone out there have access to the PRs for St Bartholomew Longbenton?
many thanks
Bob

Source a set of index books in Newcastle City Library ( Luckily Longbenton Parish indexes date later than other parish records indexes , which usually stop at 1837.

Tell me how you you did discovered that the "other" Joseph Wright on Census 1851 is in the same house that was occupied by "your" Joseph on Census 1841.

Hello Michael
Many thanks for those baptisms. I think I can place most of them. My Joseph Wright (=Elizabeth Turnbull) had Elizabeth (x28 Aug 1842) and Margaret (x27 Sep 1846). The other Joseph Wright (= Isabella Swan) had Margaret (x7 Nov 1847). Joseph (x11 May 1851) is a puzzle, because I though Elizabeth (bur 11 May 1851) was Elizabeth Turnbull (from NBI). I need to think about that.

The other burials in William Pit are probably children of Joseph's brother (George).

I concluded that the 2 Josephs occupied the same house from their immediate neighbours in William Pit Cottages, Longbenton. In 1841 Joseph Wright (1) lived next door to the Robson family (including George Robson aged 70), and next but one to the Scott family (including Thomas aged 7). In 1851 Joseph Wright (2) lived next door to the Robson family (including George Robson aged 81), and next but 1 to The Scott family (including Thomas 17).

The 2 Josephs were probably related (? cousins). They also both had daughters called Margaret, of similar ages (see above), and both were pitmen/coal miners. The 2 Josephs were also of similar ages (or as similar as you often get in censuses).

Complicated, and I'm still sorting it all out
many thanks to all who helped
regards
Bob
