It looks to me like Cambs ( Cambridgeshire) Newton.

I don't know the Cambridge area so can't say whether my reading of it makes sense.

I agree with Jen  :)

Cambs, short for Cambridgeshire, Newton ?

genuki shows Newton near Cambridge here : http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/CAM/NewtonnearCambridge/index.html

and Newton near Wisbeach here:  http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/CAM/NewtonintheIsle/index.html

I just Googled it and found Newton a few miles south west of Cambridge.

Just amended my post, Jen, there are two Newtons

aletan, do you have her on another census that might help to choose which town?

Hi aletan

looks like Newton to me, and I live in Newton, that is the one near Wisbech. It's some times know as Newton in the Isle. The other one is south west of Cambridge, as Genjen says  ;) ;)

Do you have an idea of when they married? There is this record on FreeBMD

Dec 1893 Pateley Bridge 9a 102
Simpson George
Hunns Ruth

if that is the correct one, she comes from the one near Wisbech

How did you work that out, Ricky?

I found a Ruth Hunns in 1891, aged 21, born Newton Cambridge but she is in Ealing, Middlesex - a long way from Pateley Bridge.
