Death Cert arrived! - Atcham
« on: Monday 15 September 08 15:51 BST (UK) »
Hi All

Death cert finally arrived and not sure I am any much wiser - writing on it is hideous!
Anyway what I can make out is the following:-

Died 13 May 1918 at Chuck Mole Villa, Pen???bury(possibly) RD.
Her name is correct as is her fathers name and his occupation is written as ?something? Pensioners
I am struggling to read the cause of death of which there are two - I can make out Pulmony Haemorrhage  but thats about it. Can't read residence of informant. (Have attached copy of cert for all the clever ones who can read scrawl of which I am unfortunately not one!)

Now the name Chuck Mole Villa rang a bell and when I checked back through my records I found that her father Frederick William Danavell had listed this place as his intended place of residence  (it was written as Chuck Mole Villa, Hanwood, Nr Shrewsbury) when he was medically discharged from the army on the 14 April 1918.

Is Chuck Mole Villa familiar with anyone as anything other than a house or residence. The reason I ask is because Frederick, his wife and two children were all born and brought up in St Pancras and I can think of and know of no link to Shrewsbury or the nearby area with this family. Even when Frederick enlisted it was in London with the London Regiment, 19th Battalion.

Look forward to hearing from anyone with any ideas or superb reading skills.

Thank you
Sharon

On closer investigation I think Cruckmole should be Cruckmeole as this can be found in Hanwood
Sharon.

P.S Noticed the death cert isn't big enough to read on site. I do have it larger on my P.C if needed...

Hi,

The occupation looks like Army Pensioner.

Cause of death: Phthisis (?)...this was what we know as TB.
                           Exhaustion ?

Hi Sharon,

Can you  enlarge and post just the sections that are hard to read?  Should not post complete certificates.

I am actually wondering if 'Cruck Meole Villa' was some kind of lung/chest sanatorium as when Frederick her father went there after being discharged from the army he was suffering from Chronic Bronchitis brought on by the inhalation of mustard gas. On his medical records it says that he had valvular disease of the heart  also attributed to mustard gas.

Just a thought.

Now you mention it, I can certainly see that it could say uncle although the name means absolutely nothing to me at the moment.
I really need to try and find what connects my Danavells from London with Atcham.
