Croudace Family Monmouthshire

Have been speaking with my Mother about Miss Croudace the teacher in Goldwire Lane school Monmouth.  This is what I have learned:
Miss Croudace first names were Philys (not sure of spelling) Grace & Mum thinks she was born about 1907 and started teaching in Goldwire Lane about 1924/25. Apparently Miss Croudace was an excellent teacher, well liked and respected by the pupils. Miss Croudace taught at Goldwire Lane with a Miss Kathleen Hazel Evans who came from Merthyr Tydful

Mum doesnt know anything about Miss Croudace being married - but my Mother left Monmouth late 1940's - so possibly Miss Croudace married after then.

Miss Croudace had a brother by the name of Bob. Bob's wifes name not known but there were 2 children. Names are known but I havent included them for privacy reasons

Miss Croudace was a member of painting and decorating (builders?) family.

A branch of the Croudace family lived on Drybridge street.

Miss Croudace has a very good singing voice - contralto. My Mother remembers some kind of campaign during WW2 - possibly a savings campaign. There was a 'street celebration' to help raise funds/ publicity, apparently Miss Croudace stood at the top of Monnow Street ( Agincourt Sq end) and sang ' Land of Hope & Glory'. Mum says even thinking of it now makes the hairs on the back of her neck stand up.

Mum also says thanks for placing the query. She says she is recalling things she probably hadnt thpught of since they had happened.

I'd be very interested in anything you've found out about the Croudaces of Monmouth - My grandmother was Laura May Croudace and her mother was Gertrude Croudace married to William Croudace.

I have hit a bit of a dead end with William Croudace so if you happen to have anything it would be very interesting!

I have just found your thread about Croudace family from Monmouth. I am also related to this family which I am finding is quite complicated. William F Croudace (1858-1928  if my dates are correct) ,  is my Great Grandfather. I haven't got very far with my tree so any help would be fantastic and of course If I can be of any help to anyone else with my branch of the tree, then please let me know.

Hi smileyriley,  I have traced pretty much all the Monmouth Croudaces, some branches more complicated than others. I believe William F Had about 11 children between his two wives. I am happy to exchange info with distant cousins !
