Cloontuskert Cemetery
« on: Tuesday 09 September 08 16:18 BST (UK) »
I have information that my Great-Grandfather and Great-Grandmother, on my mother's paternal side, is buried in Cloontuskert Cemetery.  I have them buried in Grave # 254.  I also have a note that says "Headstone erected, May, 1929 - possible American connection.

Michael Noone - Abt. 1836-January 7, 1912
Anne Greene Noone - Abt. 1845-February 10, 1927

I have one of their 10 children, and, his wife also buried in Grave#254.

Charles Noone - B-1889 - September 14, 1949.
Anne Noone - B- 1903-July20, 1977.

Would it be possibly for anyone to check this for me, and, tell me what it says on the headstone?  Thank you for any help.

Hi - wondered if you would mind letting me know how you traced the graves in Cloontuskert Cemetery.  My Hanley relatives came from the area and I would like to see if any of them are buried there.  Thanks for any help you are able to offer.  Ljay

Hello,
Actually, I wrote a "Leter to the Editor" of the Roscommon newspaper about a year ago, and, a gentleman who was doing a history of the Roscommon area, sent me a 4 page Noone Family genealogy, starting in 1801, and documenting what he researched of the desendants of the Family, and, ending with my Grandfather's mother and father and all his siblings (10 of them) and what information he had researched on them.  He s the one who informed me about the Cloontuskert Cemetery and the burial plot of mt Great Grandfather and Grandmother.
My suggestion (unless someone has a better idea) is write to the Cloontuskert Cemetery, who's address  is on the web, and under the supervision of the Archdiocese, but, they do not have a computer, so, it will have to be by snail mail, or, write a "Letter to the Editor" and see if you received a response.
Good Luck.

Hi - thanks very much for this.  We did try a letter to the local priest but unfortunately never had a reply.  The idea of the local paper is a good one and well worth following up.  Looking for the right Hanley in Ireland is like looking for a needle in a haystack so all help is welcomed!

Thanks again and good luck with your research.

Hello
This link http://www.roscommoncoco.ie/burialgrounds/ShowRecord.aspx?Record=9 has a couple of alternative contacts for Cloontuskert Cemetery. I am looking for Noone's in Kiltullagh/Ballinlough Parish but that is miles away.

Good luck

Hi - thanks for your help.  Don't know if Duxbury3's Noone family have links further afield.   Good luck with your research.  Ljay
