Family history:    what you need to do is start with yourself, then the names of your parents with birthdates, then the names of your grandparents and dates and the maiden name of your grandmothers.

In this way you work backwards, getting confirmation with birth, marriage and death certificates as necessary.

When you get close to 1901 it is possible to use the censuses to work your way backwards, with the same system, and with the crucial certificates.

1940 and later is a little bit too recent to be publishing information on the internet, particularly as the people may still be alive.

Hi, do you have anyother details about the levy family? and how far back have you found already, for instance where was Samuel born and what year, any info would help narrow things down...Mackim

Hello Lynn

I have sent you a Personal Message suggesting a possible marriage (and surname for Sheila) in 1964.

Lynn

The only Sheila that I can see (with that surname) born in Darlington around 1940 was ....

There are, however, several Sheila’s with that surname registered in Durham, in places not too far away from Darlington, during the late 1930s and 1940s.

If you (or your source) are positive that she came from Darlington, then the one mentioned above might be her.

Thank you all very very much, but i don't have a lot of info at this time as i have just started searching, and hit a brick wall straight away.
I have also posted a message in the immigration board as sam(not sure of full first name) cleveland Levy came over to UK from Jamaica not sure yet of the date.
Thanks again
Lynn
