Newburgh, Foveran.
« on: Thursday 04 September 08 05:08 BST (UK) »
Hi from NZ,
Is there anybody on Rootschat with information about burials/deaths in and around Newburgh, Foveran. I have a Thomas HENDERSON chr Oct 1812 Newburgh with parents  John HENDERSON and Margt KING. I have been unable to find any other records pertaining to the parents apart from a reference in a book written by Thomas H where in 1842 his first wife (on her deathbed) speaks of his mother and her father (James Glass, Aberdeen) being still alive. I would be greatly interested in any information that puts another little leaf on my Tree.
Thanks, GramH

Hello,

I'd give the following link a try which allows for search by name

http://www.abdnet.co.uk/mi-index/

If lucky all you'll get is the name and basic date of death.  The site is self explanatory.  Regards,   Steve  :O)

I take it you've checked to see if any wills were left - a free search facility exists on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Thankyou Piglet,
I didn't know about the abdnet MI's site and that threw up 2 possibilities. I will see if I can access the ANEFHS booklets here in NZ for further info on the inscriptions.  A bud waiting to burst into leaf? (well it is spring here in NZ). I had already checked for a will etc.
Regards,
GramH

Hi GramH

If you don't have any success finding the booklets, some rootchatter have copies (of some) and may be willing to do a lookup for you.

Thankyou  all,
I eventually found a copy of M.I's for Foveran published by ANESFHS and what I hoped might be promising was not to be. However I do have another request. There is a booklet  'The Membership Roll of Frederick Street Congregational Chapel 1807 -1859. pub by ANESFHS.  I would greatly appreciate if somebody has access to it, if they could please lookup for a  Thomas HENDERSON and a Joan GLASS. Probably from about 1822 to 1835. They eventually married Silver St Chapel in London Oct 1837. Her father James GLASS was a Deacon at the Frederick St Chapel.
Many thanks, GramH
