Royal Highland Fusiliers
« on: Wednesday 03 September 08 04:56 BST (UK) »
Hi,  I am looking for help with researching my fathers whereabouts in WW11.  I have been told he  could have been in the Royal Highland Fusiliers.  He survived the war, I think he trained at Pitlochry, Scotland and he was in Germany. Like many others Dad never talked about his war experience and he has now passed on. If I post a photo could anybody identify the badge for me?  Very many thanks

Hi Greentea

may I suggest that you apply for his service records. It would tell when he joined up, with whome, and which units. From that we maybe able to assist with where he was etc.

You can apply for his records by following the instructions on this site:

http://www.veterans-uk.info/service_records/army.html

If you do decide to apply then make sure to ask for photocopies of the original file. Otherwise they send you a typed summary which isn't very much help

K
