Hi

It's hard to say if we have a connection at all. I have some information on my GGgrandfather James Thorpe 1816 - 1820c
1851 census lived at 174 Bath Street, (Eccleshall Bierlow), Sheffield
Pen Blade Grinder
1861 census - Living at 49 Cliffe Bridge, "Hope Inn", Monk Bretton, Yorkshire
Innkeeper +
Employed Domestic servant - Margaret Townley 13yrs
1871 census - living at 1 Hermitage Street, "Queen Adelaide", Eccleshall Bierlow, Sheffield
Licensed victualler
His son James Thorpe (1849) who married Louisa Morris moved to Workington to work at the Bessamer Steel Works. This James was disinherited by his father after getting Louisa pregnant out of wedlock.

They went on to have 11 children of which my grandfather was the youngest but they stayed in Workington for the rest of their lives. James was injured in an accident at the steel works and badly burnt. He died around 1905 when my grandad was 6.
If there is a connection maybe your g grandad might have some memories of something above
Let me know how you get on.
