The family are also recorded as Giffen in 1901 census- spelling variations are not uncommon.

My great-great grandfather (Simpson) and grandmother (Griffin) were from Ireland. My great-grandmother was Jane Simpson who came to the US and stayed in Tennessee. She had a son, my grandfather, Walter James Crutcher.
