?? Parish records for Sandymount-COMPLETED

Just wondering if there are any parish marriage records available for Star of the Sea RC Church in Sandymount ? I am particularly interested in the yr 1898 for Scott/Carroll marriage.

The parish records for Star of the Sea Church in Sandymount are only available direct from the church.  Most other church records can be viewed on microfilm in the National Library of Ireland.  Unfortunately the records for Sandymount are not there and I had to apply direct to the church to get them.  You have to be patient as it takes them a few months to look them up.

Eileen,  I was interested to see that Star of the Sea Parish records are now available in the National Library as I have more family members I want to research and I do not like to keep asking the church to look them up.    Do you know when they became available as I was in the Library about two years ago and was told they did not have them.

The lady at the parish office said the registers were passed to national library in the late 1970s to be microfilmed.  I presume dates were pre 1900.

National Library do not have it on microfilm but may have original register which you can access.

The Librarian at N.L. (very helpful lady) said she will locate register and get back to me, hopefully next week.

While I don't know the particular circumstances at Sandymount parish church I find it hard to understand time taken by clergy in responding to queries.Most parish registers have been transcribed by FAS trainees into an alphabetically/chronologically arranged book or microfiche.The clergy were each given a copy of these.It's not as if they had to wade through centuries of handwritten records,as one has to do at NLI.

Thanks for your reply.  As I said previously when I was in the National Library they said they had not got the Sandymount Parish information and that is why I had to apply to the Church direct.  I don't think their registers have been transcribed and they have to look up the original registers and thats why it  takes a while to get the information.
