Yes, you beat me by 4 minutes, Gadget  :)

Lorraine, Gadget (probably) got this information from http://www.freebmd.org.uk

Unless you narrow down the area where he was born, you may have to take a gamble  :)
RIP 1949-10th January 2013

Best Wishes,  Nick.

Been doing it a long time, Nick  :D

No others in the area that I can see and all the registrations are supposedly up.

I think the marriage cert might be a good idea as well, but that will need a search on the full GRO index.

I suppose that Lorraine can apply to the GRO with just his name, DOB, and birthplace Liverpool or Birkenhead, and they will find the right one for her ?    I always apply for certificates using the entry details.

I use the on line ordering system.  I think Lorraine might well have used the GRO before because she's traced one side of the family.  If not here's the ref:

Hi Suz

I didn't look at the Ann one - wanted to check with Lorraine - I'll go and do another check now.

Done another check - page was blurred - it is Walmsley  :)

It looks like one of those carbon copies or those films where the letters have worn through!
