« on: Sunday 31 August 08 10:32 BST (UK) »
Searching for the birth of a JOHN MADDOX born 1769 in Bredwardine, Herefordshire.

John was married in Gloucestershire in 1804, resided in the Forest of Dean until his death in 1863 (age 94).   1841-61 censuses state he was born in Bredwardine.    Any leads would be appreciated.

Seem to be a lot of Maddoxes in Bredwardine on the IGI, but cannot see a John from this date.

Puffcat,

Thanks for trying.   I'm really at a dead-end unless someone can find a lead to this particular John Maddox born 1769.

John was adamant on the 1841-1861 census returns that he was born in Bredwardine, but perhaps he lived there as a child, and was baptised in a neighbouring parish (Brobury, Letton, Moccas, Dorstone, Staunton-on-Wye or Peterchurch) church?

Only wish I had access to the microfiche for the area!

There seem to be other Maddoxes born around the same time who could be siblings on the Hugh Wallis list

The Hugh Wallis site was quite interesting and provided numerous Maddox's in and around Herefordshire.

I've trawled the IGI site of Maddox's and now have a comprehensive family tree of the majority of Maddox's in Herefordshire in that time frame - but I've still not been able to find the elusive JOHN MADDOX (reportedly born in Bredwardine in 1769).  None of the families seem to have a 'space' in the right place!

One day perhaps someone may find him before I do.
Any leads would be appreciated.
