Hi Jackie

I have a George Roberts that I am looking for more info on. He had a daughter Emily who married a Edwin Henry Thompson in Lamberhurst, Kent in Nov 1873. If it is the same person George would be my 3*G Grandfather.

The ages might fit in with the George you have (at a push) but it was only through his great granddaughter (my grandmother) that the first references to South Africa appear (that I know of).

Hi Glenn,

I looked through my branches, and no Emily is found.  George did not have an Emily that i know of.
Could you give me a date of birth for George and for Emily so i can double check.

Thanks for the reply.

I got George's name as father off Emily's marriage certificate where she married Edwin Henry Thompson on 18/11/1873. At that date she was of "full age" so was born before 1852.

Unfortunately that is all I have at the moment.

Have just joined this site and am facinated by the info that is forthcoming !!
I also have an interest in the Roberts family , my Great Grandmother was Lucy Ann Roberts brn 1848 to James Roberts and Matilda Roots , don't have much on this family so would appreciate it if some one can help out , Lucy had a sister Mary Ann brn 1843 and a brother George 1842.

Hi Bonzadel, yes this site is very fascinating and lots of members who are very helpfull too.

My 3 * g/grandfather George Roberts was born in 1825, his eldest son, also George, was born in 1854. There was no Lucy listed as any of his daughter so there is nothing common at that point.

Thank you for your reply , I also have 2 George's in my tree but don't match your dob 's 1842 & 1869 respectivly.
