roberts family of Dover Kent lookup please

I am following the family of Roberts who where baptised, married and often buried at St Mary the Virgin, Dover, Kent.

Could some one please do a lookup for me in 1841 census for the following family:

Phillip GOBERT engineer and August GOBERT his wife both aged 22 and belonging to Calais arrived in New York 17 Oct 1834 aboard the "Mariposa" from London.

I couldn't immediately identify any of the ROBERTS boys in the census

I think this is Charles Wade ROBERTS and his family in 1851 ...........the ages would coincide with their baptisms on the IGI http://www.familysearch.org at Dover St Mary.

1851 - Gloucester Terrace, Robin Hood Lane, Bromley St Leonard, Middlesex

Charles Waid ROBERTS head mar 46 master mariner b.something crossed out and overwritten with Yorkshire
Sarah Ann wife 36 b.Kent/Yorkshire?
Charles Waid son 15 apprentice to sea b.(Kent/Middlesex? - can't make it out)
Sarah Ann dau 13 b.Kent/Middlesex? - can't make it out)
Rosina dau 10 b.Middlesex

The birthplaces are such a muddle with them being written and then overwritten with something else

If you google "Charles Waid ROBERTS" there are a number of references on the web from various enquirers about him ............ perhaps you already know this but just in case.  It looks like he and Sarah went to Australia (1853?) which would explain why I couldn't find them in a later census

I know that Charles was a Captain to ss columbine, but cannot find his voyage date. So this fits in with his occupation on the census:)
According to south african records, his brother George came on the same ship with him as a mate, and settled in Port Elizabeth where he married in 1843. 
I have been trying to find out which year the two brothers came to south africa.  Only found one voyage in 1841 to Australia, via South Africa on Columbine, but it does not give names.  Trying to eliminate when they were in UK.
From what i can work out, Charles and George took a voyage to Australia, with George hopping off in South Africa and staying and Charles going on to Australia.

In this family there are so many Charles Wade/Waid's that it is scary.  Every generation it pops up in most branches.  See the Ralph family... Charles Waid Ralph B1846.  And it is not limited to a country either.  They are in USA and SA and Australia.

As a master mariner, I would expect John Waid ROBERTS to have had some kind of certification see the following research leaflet for master mariners

These records would be at the National Archives, Kew, London so, unfortunately, would require a visit or for somebody to go on your behalf.

What is your source for knowing that he was capain of the SS Columbine?

Hi there,

A family member did some research while in the UK.  He states "The 2nd born was Charles Wade Roberts who was a Master Mariner and Captain of S.S. Columbine which arrived at Port Elizabeth and George Henry my G/Grandfather took passage out to South Africa as a Mate on this ship in 1842."

I obviously cannot say that this is  100% accurate, as there were no sources quoted.  However, we do know that this Roberts family were very heavily involved in the Royal Navy throughout their lives, so it would be a good possibility.

I suppose, that i cannot trace Charles anymore now without having more information on his Naval career or sea life.

If you search the London Gazette for (exact) Waid Roberts, you will find several articles (bankruptcy/debtors?) relating to Charles
