Hello
Am trying to trace my Mums family but they seemed to disappear on a couple of censuses.
John Jeffery (b 1819 Saltash Cornwell) and married to Mary Ann Rowden (b 1819 Devon) unsure when they married. In 1851 he was recorded as a Dockyard Shipwright and they lived at 4 South Hill Buildings Devonport. I can't find them (or their offspring) in any of the 1861 or 1871 Censuses but he turns up again as a Shipwright pensioner in 1881 in Stoke Dameral. Where did they go? They had 5 children
Charles H (b 1853)
William (b 1854)
John H (b 1856)
Harry (b 1858)
and
Samuel who was my great great grandfather (b 1849) went to sea on the Royal Adelaide and was recorded as a Maid Room steward in 1871.
Mary Ann Jeffery was recorded as widowed in 1891 and had moved back to Saltash in Cornwall (or is it Devon)
If it had just been John that went missing I might have thought he'd gone to sea (or prison!?!

)but for 2 decades there is no trace of them as a family. I've tried the Cornwall censuses as well but am now at a dead end.

Any ideas??
Big Jen
