Hi Janette and Joe, looks like you two are still around.

Six and a bit years LATER ;D it looks like the answer to your question re "stoolin mill" has arrived.

If you look at the'W' on William Kendall, last name on family list on Ancestry census, you will see the first letter of 'stoolin' looks like a 'W' not an 'S'. Therefore occupation is "Labourer in Woollen Mill" and there were plenty of those around Pudsey in those days.

Ian :)

Alec .. I have Stephenson at Doncaster, W Yorkshire .. and Stephenson at Toronto, Ontario. My Toronto connection is a Wm T Stephenson a house builder, he died in 1949 (his obit says Mt Dennis area) he was buried from his daughter house Eglington Ave .. buried Prospect Cem. Wm would have been born in the Strathroy (Middlesex County) Ont area.
William Stephenson - born 1814 at Doncaster West Yorkshire - married Mary Scott at Cottingham East Yorkshire (Hull) in 1838. Williams parents I believe were another Wm Stephenson and an Alice Carter - married Cantley Parish W Yorks (Doncaster) in 1811..... Other east riding names are Nicholls (Bridlington, Yorks and Wigan Lancs.) and the surname Withernwick.

HUTTON:Knaresborough, Leeds, Pontefract

I suspect that the Knaresborough Hutton Families may have had some connection with Sir Richard Hutton - the Honest Judge - who bought the Goldsborough Estate near Knaresborough.   If so then look at Anthony Hutton and Hutton Hall in Penrith.
Hutton: Eccleshill,Queensbury
Grant: Babworth,Chinley
Draffan: Lesmahagow,Douglas,Coylton, Consett
Oliver: Tanfield, Sunderland, Consett
Proudlock: Northumberland

Currie: Coylton
Morris and Hurst: East Retford, Blyth, Worksop
Elliot: Castleton, Hunstanworth, Consett
