The basic information is shown on Scotland’s People (see my previous post). Sorry about mentioning the £10 – forgot that Ethel died after 1957.
Had Ethel died pre 1957, you could have seen the actual image of her death cert and there is so much more info on a Scottish BMD than those of England.
The Scottish death cert will show:
both her maiden and married name,
if married it will show her husband’s name, or “widow of”,
when and where she died, including the time of death,
her age,
her usual residence,
parents names, including her mother’s maiden, if known by the informant, and if parents were deceased,
her father’s occupation,
her cause of death,
the informant and the informants qualification/relationship to her (son/daughter/neighbour etc) as well as perhaps their address.
You might be lucky and find that the informant’s details give you a clue as to where to search next.
So well worth the £13.
PS I wish the English certs would show half as much info!!
