Reilly family Glasgow and Mayo

Hi. I am currently researching my family tree and trying to get in contact with the Scottish branch of the family. I am looking for descendent's of William Reilly born in 1872 in Portacloy, Co. Mayo, Ireland. He moved to Scotland and settled in the Glasgow area. He had three sons Michael, Hugh and John. He also had a daughter named Bridget. The children came over to Ireland in 1939 in order to avoid the bombings in Glasgow during World War 2. We had no contact with the family until the 1980's when John came to Ireland on his summer holidays for a few years before he died. He died in Dec 1987 or Jan 1988 and would have been in his seventies. He lived near Clydebank and I know his grand-daughter used to live with him.  I believe he used to work in the shipyards.

I know it is not alot to go on but if anyone knows the people named, please get in contact.

I am sorry I can't help with your Reilly's, but, is there an error with your dates?  i.e. Children going back to Ireland in 1939 to escape the Glasgow area bombings.  If your ancestor was born in 1872 then surely his children would be mature adults, or, did I read it incorrectly?

Garnethill:  I also have Ryelly/O'Ryelly/Riley in my tree.  Catherine O'Ryelly married John KELLY (!!), both born Ireland, in 1866 Edinburgh, then moved to Glasgow and appear on the 1881 Glasgow.  Any connection?

Sorry, my Reilly's have never appeared in Edinburgh, they are all in the Govan area of Glasgow.  Perhaps you have a connection with the original poster but he/she seems not to have been online for quite some time.  Best of luck with your research
