Parkham

Regarding the different ways to research, please remember that sometimes "less is better".  If you enter too much information you are less likely to get a subset of info.

Try entering what you do know for certain.  For example, when searching for Alexis Charles Conaway Arthur in the US Census, I entered "Alex* Arthur" with an approx. birthdate of 1893 + or - 2 years.  Try using the wildcard character "*" to give you more solutions.

As for Gertrude, if you could supply more information about her I'm certain we can track her down.  If she was divorced from ARTHUR, maybe she went back to her maiden name or did she marry again.  Let us know a little more specific info and I will try my best to find her.

I am in California and I'm very close to Santa Monica, so you can see that I may be able to help you.

Mer

According to the passenger list that is not your Gertrude Arthur. The Gertrude Arthur who arrived in New York on the Vestris on 30 Aug 1921 was single, born in Barbados about 1886 and was going to live with her sister, Mrs Florence Farrell in Brooklyn, NY. The Vestris sailed from Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Barbados to New York.
