Please can anyone help? I have just posted most of what I know in response to Amy's note, but just to summarize the key points...
1. Cornelius was born in Co Cork in 1856 (although the 1891 UK census says PA, America - it also spells his name Keipe!)
2. In his wedding certificate to Elizabeth Williams in Wrexham in 1884, he claims his father was Timothy - a Collier
3. He signs the certificate with an X so would have not been able to control the different spellings of his name - he only seemed to settle on Keefe in 1894
4. He was a Collier and moved to Bersham near Wrexham around 1884. He left Co Cork and first went to South Wales - 2 other brothers also went with him, there names were Timothy, Jeremy or Patrick. One died in South Wales (possibly Bedwellty) and the other went back to Co Cork then onto the USA - most likely Wilkes-Barre, PA or Chicago
5. Cornelius was the only Catholic in the village of Brymbo at the time and walked the 5 miles to Mass in the Catholic Cathedral in Wrexham each week
6. He probably came from Castletown Roche, although Fermoy & even the Blackrock district of Cork have been suggested...
If you can't help on Cornelius directly, then any advice on where to look next would be gratefully received
