Hi there,

Thank you for this.  I had never thought about it in this way.  I probably need to go to Invrness again and speak to my cousin.  Hee I am many months on and still no joy as how to resolve this.  I htought I would give it a rest at the summer and concentrate on the other side of my family. :)
Kind regards,
Lynda

Hi Lynda

Have you had a look at the birth of William Bremner Ross in Aberdeen in August 1872. He was born to an Isabella Ross. This would tie in with his age shown on the census of 1881 and 1901.

Regards

Susan.

Hi Susan,

I have looked at this cerificate and think that this is the most probable one.  I ave a freind who is gong to look at the archives sometime in the next month.  The Isaella woud also tie in with the names passed on down throgh the family as this was one of the nams given to my mother in 1936 when she was born..... however, it still does not resolve the mystery of Florence Smith who's name appears on both certificates......heres hoping I can tie this up as soon as possible :)
Kind regards,
Lynda

HI There,

John Welsh and Jessie Reid are my 3 x gt grandparents.  Jessie died in 1892 and John married not long after.  They lived in Arbraoth.  John went on to have several more children the last being twins born in 1900.  He lived till 1929 and his wife until 1945.  Which of the original children is your girlfreind descended from.  I am from Thomas, who had a son Alex and my grandad was Thomas, (Tam).  My mum was Wendy and her brother Terry.  Please let me know as I have had very limited contact with the Welsh family.

Kind regards,

Lynda

Hi There,
Sorry, I do not have any pictures.  I have one or two of my grandad Tom though.  He was a farm worker all his life.  He ended his days in Edinburgh after coming down here when my mum eloped and had me in 1953.  This part of the family remained here ever since.  After my mum died in 1969, aged 32, my uncle died in 1974 in a road smash.  My gran then died a couple of years later and then my grandad died in 1979 just after my youngest sons first birthday.  They all went in 10 years.  The last time I saw my gt Uncle Alex was at my grandads funeral.  Uncle Alex was awarded the MBE for services to fishing as apparently his boat was the last to go out of Scotland with lines attatched.
I have been in touch with his sons, Alex and Douglas in Gourdon last year.  I was upat the cemetry there and got a photograph of Thomas and Christina headstone.  Gt Uncle Alex is also buried there.  My gt Grandfather Alex was buried in Arbraoth Eastern cemetry along with my gt granma whi is in the picture at the side of this.  Bet she never imagined that she would be viewed by the whole world on the internet.  Thats her walking along Bervie High sStreet in the very late 50's.  I remember her being a lovely lady with a one tooth smile.  She was 81 when she died.  My gt Grandfather died in 1944, so she was on her own for a while.  My gt Aunt Nellie marriedRobert Dorward and live in David Street.  Her family lived in this house for many years.  They had one son David, who to my knowledge lives in Alloa.  He has one daughter.  I remember when I was about 7 years old, my uncle took me to visit Gt aunt Nelliee and had thetime of my life in that tiny house.  It was amazing.  Te big black range and how she cooked all the meals there, and the wee recess in the kitchen where the bed was.  At that time it was the cosyest bed I had ever slept in...lol.
AnywayI am not sure that The Thomas you speak about is my gt gt gt grandfather, but he is the brother of my gt grandfather Alex.  I think this is where Marjory fits into my tree.
I have John c1786 married to Harriet,Thomas, John c1850 married to Jessie Reid, Alex married to Susan, and my granpa Tom born in 1909 at Benholm.

Please let me know if I can help you any further.

Kind regards,
Lynda
