Hi Douglas,

Thanks for posting the photo.  It is wonderful!

I found this record in my database... don't know if you have it.

" Thomas Russell married Annie Lyness in Seagoe parish on 3 March 1902. Annie was the daughter of John Lyness, a labourer from Drumgor."

I am surmising she belongs in this family, but she could be a neice of Jane Lyness, not a sister.... based on the year of the marriage.

Hi Roxanna,
I have a note in my tree of a Thomas Lyness who married Annie Lyness in Seagoe Parish Church in 1855. Their later children were Wright 1866, Joseph 1869, Jervis 1871 and Mary 1876. Have you got any record of these?

Has anyone worked out which Pentland family the granddaughter Annie belongs to?  She may have married but does not appear in 1911 as Pentland and neither do any of the Veill family but there may be a spelling issue there or was it emigration of the whole family?

These are the non Catholic records for the Lurgan/Portadown and closely outlying areas plus Bleary/Ballydougan/Ballynagarrick.

I think the census might have misspelled Phoebe's name and it should have been Neill.  A Phoebe married William Neill in Co Armagh in 1871, apparently not in Portadown.  I can't find any children for the interval 1871-1880.  Possibly Samuel is a nephew.  "Theobe Neill" is living with her son, Joseph Foster Neill, on Carleton in 1911.

Thanks, that certainly seems to sort the spelling issue. It does, however raise a new one.

Elizabeth Kitchen the widow of George Pentland remarried in 1861. Her new husband George Neill may be the link but if Pheobe Foster was Annie Neill's grandmother and Poebe was ten years younger than Elizabeth Kitchen does it not suggest an unidentified child she had with George Pentland whose child is the Annie we see in the 101 census?

With reference to Russell's post I have details on the Lynass and Russell families and I believe that they are the same family as you are researching. My grandfather was Thomas Henry Russell.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply on the Russell's of Drumgor , I would be interested in any Lyness connection.

The Irish writer  George Russell family came from Drumgor, the families from these small townlands of Drumgor , Moyraverty and Lageacorry were well connected.

My great grandfathers will Thomas Lyness was witnessed by a Isaac Russell .
