Barnardo's - Guild Messenger - Names Extraction.

I plan to start extracting names of Canadian Home Children listed in "The Barnardo Guild Messenger" magazine.

I have received 32 copies of the Guild from a gentleman in the U.K. and I have obtained a few more copies locally.  However, I need to obtain as many copies as possible to make it a worth while project.

Does anyone have a collection of these magazines that they would be willing to part with for use in this project.  On completion of the project, the copies of the Guild obtained will be offered to Library and Archives Canada (LAC) for their collection unless the original owner wants them back.  Copies given to the LAC would then benefit other researcher who have an interest in their content.

Thank you.

hi denniskelly,

I am not sure what your project will entail, but check out the following link for British Home Childrens Registry,
there are 53,000 names on this site.

Tom,

Thanks for your E mail and interest.

The idea of extracting the Canadian names from the Guild is to try and add some additional information on individuals.  The Guild being a lot like Ups and Downs should add some additional information and perhaps fill in some of the blanks.

Carolyn,

Thank you for your E mail and interest.

I am aware of Branardo's etc and have contacted them at least three time but no reply yet.  I live in hope.

Thanks again.  Greatly appreciated.

Hi
My friend did get a reply with application form and costs. Seems like they do an initial trawl to see if there are any records , then a more detailed one. Unfortunately there was no record for my friend's ancestor.
Good luck.
