ROYAL Family
« on: Saturday 16 August 08 09:00 BST (UK) »
I am searching the "Royal" family from Norfolk/Gt Yarmouth.  I live in Australia and recently saw a posting by bobtonks re Anthony Royal and Ann Bentham.  Anthony is my GGGG Grandfather.  I have numerous certificates on the Royals and believe that Anthony was married twice - possibly to 2 different Ann's.  Anthony's grandson Joseph was married to Harriett Annie Alice Agnes Harbord - who I am told was killed after the Zeppelin bombing raid on Gt Yarmouth.  Is there anyone else interested in the "Royals"?  I would love to hear from you.

Hi Jackie,

I am one of the decendants of our Mr Anthony Royal. I do not think I know any more than you do at this time but I am hoping to get to the Nation Archive before the end of the year to see if I can look up his Naval career. Being a Greenwich pensioner, he should have pension records somewhere. I do not know who his mother or father was but I seem to have found Ann Bentham's parents as John Bentham and Sarah Buckingham. I can remember how I found this at the moment, possibly from freereg.com.

Anthony is my 4G Grandfather, James Royal my 3G Grandfather, Charlotte Royal my 2G Grandmother and then through the Welhams.

I am part of Ancestry.com and would gladly invite you to enter my tree if you think it might help.

Please let me know anything you know as I would be very interested in Anthony, Ann or thier son James.

Happy hunting

Mike Emeny

Hello Meles
I am researching the Royall family for a family friend. He is descended from your Mary Ann's brother John George Royall so if you're interested in getting in touch please let me know. I have managed to trace the whereabouts of most of the male siblings but not their sisters so it would be nice to fill in some gaps.

My great grandmother was Hannah Royal, born in Yarmouth in 1858 or 1859. She was the daughter of James John Royal of Yarmouth born 1827and later of Runham, and Charlotte Hodds, again from Yarmouth born 1830. Charlotte's mother was Amy Julings who married  Henry Julings in 1834. Charlotte was either illegitimate or Amy was a widow when she married Henry.
James and Charlotte Royal had a large family -as well as Hannah there were: Henry, Charlotte, Mary Ann, James J, Joseph, William, Edith, Catherine and Alice. These are listed on the censuses in 1861, 1871, 1881 and 1891. There may be others not listed on these censuses because they were away from home.
Amy Julings lived with them during all these censuses -in 1891 she is listed as age 86, mother in law and widow --Henry Julings died in 1848.
I would be interested in any infomation anyone has about this family.

My great grandmother was Miriam Royal (born c.1880, Weeting, Norfolk).

Her parents were John Royal (born c.1850, Brandon, Suffolk) and Lilian Jane Mason.  John's parents were John Royal (born c.1822, Brandon, Suffolk) and Jane Jessup.

Probably not related to your Royals, but you never know!
