McCorquodales and places of Lismore
« on: Saturday 16 August 08 00:55 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace the family of Archibald McCorquodale/McCorkindale and Ann McPhail/McPhale who lived in various hamlets on Lismore.
I have two problems, one I can't track where Archibald came from and secondly I am unable to find the place names in the OPR.
The eldest daughter Katharine was born in 1786 in the parish of Kilmore & Kilbride at a place which looks like "Marnacary".
The second child Isobel was born in the Lismore, Appin & Duror parish at a place called "Porteharon". The place name given in 1793 for the third daughter Margaret look like "Dalinrue".
Any help with these place names would be greatly appreciated.
Have branches of research in Herts, Beds, BerksBucks and Oxon into 1500's. Main names of interest
Slough/Slow, Winder, Chessall, Keep
