Hiya Emma

On the 1851 it has Solomon being born 1812 Tipton

Tipton comes under Dudley not Wolverhampton so you need some kind soul to have a look at Dudley Archives for you

Could be a Baptist Emma they weren't baptised until they were adults, or some other Non Conformist, they were rife in the BC area, most of my Ancestors were Non Conformist of one denomination or another.  Happy hunting from linell

There are no records for Tipton at Dudley Archives, they are held at Stafford Record Office.

Hi Emma,

Tipton comes under the Sandwell Archives area.  The archive is located in Smethwick library.  If I'd known before I went away I could have done a look-up for you.

It's amazing how many Archives we have for such a small area.  I've just got back from a short trip to the Black Country and managed to take in the (catholic) Archdiocesan Archive, Sandwell Archive, Wolverhampton Archive and Walsall Archive - missed out Dudley and Birmingham on this trip as it would have been just too much.

Sorry Willow,

I did mean to mention it for lookups too, but the few weeks befor the trip I was poorly with a tooth infection and on lots of antibiotics so ended up not being sure whether I'd even cope with my own lookups.

The high-lights of the trip have to be finding my grand-parents grave at Bilston Cemetery in the rain on Wednesday and then going to a meeting of The Black Country Memories Club at the Holy Trinity Church Club, where I met two second cousins and a more distant relative, for the first time.  It was a great meeting too and I even managed a peek inside the church, which is being refurbished at present.

I came away afterwards feeling like I'd had my very own WDYTYA!
