Hi Circam

I was aware that Elizabeth McIntosh married Archibald Morrison  1831 and had several children - the entries in the OPR are in the name of Elizabeth Tosh.

I apologise if you  know this already

Hi Circam

I would be interested to hear about the former marriage of Elisabeth McIntosh/Tosh if you have further information.

Thanks

Elizabeth McIntosh born 24/02/1807 daughter of David and Mary (nee Trotter) had a younger brother James born 16/10/1814.

She married Richard McIntosh circa 1827 however Richard McIntosh probably dies circa 1829 so she remarries to Archibald Morrison in 1831. Her first marriage yields a son Richard McIntosh born circa 1828

In the 1841 census Richard 'Tosh' is aged 13 living alone, presumably due to his mothers expanding Morrison family.

In the census of 1851 Elizabeths brother James is the innkeeper in Gifford and living with him was his 'nephew' Richard McIntosh, now aged 22.

Richard himself goes on to marry twice and on his second marriage (1878) cites his parents as Richard and Elizabeth McIntosh (father deceased) Elizabeth dies 3/4/1879

Let me know if you need any other info

Hi Circam

Thanks very much for that information.  My line comes down through Archibald Morrison and Elisabeth Tosh/McIntosh. I have been at an impasse for some time. I have been unable to find Archibald's death registration. ( His last census entry is for1891 aged 79, born Inveresk, ML.  His birth is elusive also.)

Like you I have Elizabeth's death registration, but have only recently obtained it which helped no end.

I'll spend a bit of time looking over the content of your message, thanks once more.

Hello again Tom

Archibald Morrison died 12/05/1895 Cumlodden Argyll aged 85. Ex ploughman widow of Betsy McIntosh (elizabeth). Son of David Morrison -Soldier and Margaret Morrison nee Kier.

John Morrison the son signs the death certificate. Archibald was a ploughman.

Looks like he moved in with his youngest son john after death of elizabeth.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Richard McIntosh

Hello Richard

Thanks once more!!

I had a list of four likely Archibalds and thought the one dying in Newington in 1901 most likely.  Although a ploughman he wasn't the one!

Are you a member of Genes Reunited - if so I tried to contact you re Mary Trotter last week.

Best Wishes

Hi again James im not sure if im on Genes Reunited as i think i may have registered then not bothered as i thought that it was mainly english records.

Anyway it sounds as if you are related through marriage to a descendent of David McIntosh and Mary Trotter ? If you or your spouse are then we share the the same g g g grandmother ?

As a McIntosh i was following the male line but got stuck when elizabeth first got married however because she married another McIntosh i am still trying to follow by switching over to David McIntosh, elizabeths father.

Sorry if this doesnt make much sense!

Richard McIntosh
