Help!
I need basic startup info for my grandparents - Thomas Chambers married to Ada (Patefield)

Son Alan, Daughter Joan.

All residents of Queensbury, Bradford, West (Riding) Yorkshire.
I have no dates, or places of birth etc for anybody!
I really need to get going on this side of my family but cant get anywhere.

You need to give some idea of date of birth for any of us to be able to help!  A rough idea of year of birth for son & daughter would help place date of their marriage, once you have their marriage certificate you'll know their ages and fathers' names and occupations, to get further back.

I'm guessing they married after 1920, which would mean looking through the full GRO index for their marriage.

Too many Thomas Chambers to pick from, but on freebmd there is a birth for an Ada Patefield   March Qu  1915  Bradford  9b 204  mother's name Cooper

If that's correct, this may be her parents' marriage

As Ada was only born 1915, she would only have married ?? after 1935 so aren't her children or grandchildren still around to help with some information or documentation such as marriage cert etc?

To find her marriage to Chambers you will need to search the full GRO index  which is available at your nearest main library if you live in the UK.  It can also be searched online if you have an Ancestry subscription or at www.findmypast.com which is a paysite

The spouse name is alongside the entry which will help for identification purposes.  A copy of her marriage cert will confirm her fathers name

If it is confirmed as Harry Patefield as found by Ecneps - as she was born after the last available census - you will need a copy of her parents marriage cert to establish their details in order to trace them on the 1901 census

There is one Harry Patefield on the 1901 census b 1888 Bradford
father was John a cart driver and a widower.  1891 census shows mother as Emily
