I am trying to find birth certificate of Eric Sidney Barnes born on 14th May 1903 at Bermondsley  London.

I want to find the name of his mother and father and where they lived when he was born.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks so much for your speedy replies.  Hopefully once I have the birth certificate I can then trace Eric's Dad.  I know his name is Sydney Frank Barnes but I do not know when or where he was born, so assuming if I can trace marriage of Eric's Ma and Pa I will then be able to trace their birth certificates.

bride either    Annie Peatfield Cade   or   Minnie Waite   (found on FreeBMD)

That would then seem if they got married in 1901 that Sidney would have been around 20 so his birth date would be appox 1882 so may find him on one of the Census records living hopefully around Spilsby.

Do you possible know whereabouts Spilsby is?  Sorry.

On FreeBMD   http://freebmd.rootsweb.com   once you have found a possible registration you can click on registration area and find out more about it.

Probably best to try to find him on 1901 census, which should give you his birthplace and age ...........not always accurate.  My gt.grandpa seemed to change his slightly with each census!

Yes Croydon seems to fit in.  I will have to go off to these sites to which you refer to see what I can find out.

I am trying to find out about him as my husband's father (Desmond Eric Barnes), who is still alive at 82, is the great-grandson of Sydney Frank Barnes but unfotunately he lost touch with his father, Eric Sidney Barnes, in about 1952 when his mother, Dorothy Muriel Barnes nee Coton divorced.  Unfortunately Desmond does not seem to remember any members of his father's family at long so it looks like I will have to do alot of digging as there is no-one to verify the connections.

Thanks for all your help - I am finding my way around slowly and hope to be able to put in enough time to find out as much as I can about the Barnes family.
