MARY I COOPER
« on: Tuesday 12 August 08 13:03 BST (UK) »
Pleez could some one help me to find my Mary I Cooper who would have been on the 1901 census in Ystradyfodwg in Glamorgan Wales.  I don not have access to this census & would appreciate any help, she was born late 1800's

She married my great uncle Frederick Jordan in Pontypridd in 1919

Many Thanks
Jackie

How old was she when she married in 1919.  What was her fathers name

There is no Mary I Cooper but there are are 8 Mary Cooper entries in  Ystradyfodwg

You can view the 1901 census index for free (including Wales) on this link

Unfortunately I don't know her age but can only guess that she wouls have been in her 20's when she married my uncle Fred in 1919 in Pontypridd.  I have found him & his family, but have nothing about her

I notice that Frederick is Frederick W on the marriage entry but there is no Frederick W Jordan on the 1901 census

You don't know for sure that she was born in Glamorgan - she could have been born anywhere

I have checked the Mary Cooper birth entries on freebmd from 1890 -1900 and there is no Mary I Cooper born in Wales in that period.  I have also checked the marriage entry on the GRO image to check that the "I" wasn't a J but she was definitely Mary I Cooper

To pursue this side - you need a copy of the marriage cert

Frederick is on the 1901 census living in Redbrooke Bedwas but he was born Glamorgan.  I am not sure that Mary was born in Wales!  Possibly she was born in Selby Yorkshire & brought to wales by her parents?  Father possibly Thomas William Cooper born in Selby?  Long shot I know.  What are your thoughts?

It would be too easy to go off completely on the wrong track for the sake of the cost of a copy certificate

There are Mary I Coopers on freebmd from many counties.  Without her age and fathers name and occupation there is no way of knowing which one she was
