Might be worth looking at /registering it as a surname interest, rather than just having it here.

Hello  Herb.
You've heard of being 'vague', well that's me with the name Hesling.  It's a name both my husband and I remember my mother mentioning as having some connection with the family.  So far in my Family Tree findings I've not come across it.  Think it came from my mother's family which originated in Staffordshire but can't be 100% sure.  Mum referred to the person as 'Midge' and we both seem to remember her saying the person was a barrister or something to do with the legal profession.  Should be most interested to know if any of your Heslings tie up in any way and if so where they might fit in my Family tree.  Other names that may be connected are Lambourn & Williams.  See what I mean about being vague?
Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Jonjor,

Without any specific name or dates/places it is very difficult to know how your ancestor fits in. For interests sake the name Hesling in England was almost exclusively in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It is thought the Hesling clan from England all come from one, possibly two Hesling families that migrated from a town near the German/Dutch border in the late 1600s or early 1700s. I have most of the Hesling's that lived in the 1800s so if you can find any more detail I might be able to connect something ?? Of course there were a lot of migrations to other countries too (America/Australia).

regrds,
Herb

Goodmorning Herb
I did say my info on ' Hesling' was vague didn't I?  Now you know how vague but I do appreciate what you have been able to tell me and will store it just in case I get another lead sometime.  My only other connection with Yorkshire so far has been with the name Boothroyde.  Who knows there may be some link there eventually.  Again many thanks.

Hi
I've started looking at Heslings as my gggg?grandmother was Ruth Hesling, born Guiseley in West Yorks in 1796, I've gone back  two more generations to Jeremiah Hesling c1745, but have now hit a brick wall, I wondered if you have come across a Jeremiah at around that time?
Regards
Margaret

Hi there Margaret.
Sorry, can't help with a Jeremiah Hesling.  Still not come across any of my ancesters marrying one.
As previously mentioned on Roots Chat. both my husband and I remember my mother talking about
a 'Midge' Hesling andsounding quite proud that she was something to do with the legal profession.
Should I come across a Jeremiah Hesling I'll certainly get in touch with you.
