Are you sure the George A isn't yours - Polly was often used for Mary and she did live Albert Road:

The one I looked at was called George Albert Corbett - but Albery was crossed out and replaced with Alfred, so it defo was not the right one, But yours most certainly was. Thank you, your help is very much appreciated. :-*

The Oswestry Local Studies library might have something as well. I tried to get the link up but I think Shropshire Archives are down at the moment.

The Librarian there is one of the most helpful people that I've come across.

Hi
I have copious records of CORBETTS from WW1 and may be able to give you some further info. George was the son of Martha Corbett of 5, Eden St Oswestry and the husband of Mary of 20 Llwyn Place Albert Road, Oswestry. He had 2 brothers serving, Charles and Sydney, both living at Eden Street. All appear on the absent voters list for Shropshire.
Hope this helps.

Wow thank you for the information, I knew that his brother Charles was in the War, I have his records which are fab, but I didn't realise that he had brother called Sydney, he didnt appear on the 1901 census with the family, so its great to hear that, just shows that the census often missings things.
Do you have the actually records or just the information you so kindly provided me with?
Thank you so very much for contacting me, I really appreciate it.

I only have the info that I took from the Absent voters list when I saw it for Oswestry. I tend to keep any info on Corbetts that I come across. Charles' Army number was 202352 and Sydney Roberts' was 25265. You should be able to get the regiments from Ancestry.co uk under Medal cards.  Can I also recommend The Corbet/t Study Group, which is the one name study for Corbetts which may provide further info on other relations in the area.

It looks like the christian names are reversed, but is this Sydney in the Machine Gun Corps?

This MIC is on Ancestry as well, but there is no extra information, other than the medal roll reference: MGC/101 B18  Page 1941.

He was awarded the British War and Victory Medals.
