could someone please help me.I need to trace back his family in whitchurch,trying to find how long and when the wards lived there thanks they are in the 1861 census at ash lane how can i get further back....

Can you give us a little bit more information?

date of birth ?  Parents ?
Census information is Crown Copyright from TNA.

what is the source citation for the 1861 that you have
or better still could you post the 1861 entry for ward in whitchurch
