Looked on some of them and still cant find one that works on vista.
Family tree maker 2008 works on vista including to one report on amazon but another said it does not.

If you are looking for something to work specifically on Vista then check the requirements of the software concerned.

All programs carry a list of the requirements so just go to the websites of the various programs and see what they recommend.

Regretfully Vista is a bit of a problem with some programs which is why I am sticking with XP for now.

Hi Basdfg
Thought this may of interest to you especially if you want a record of the results of your research to give to someone.
Last week a friend let me see a booklet she had bought a while ago for recording her records and I have managed to get some copies of it to give a copy of my research to each of my children books £3 each -not expensive. It's A4 'paperback' with a glossy front cover saying 'The Family Record'
This is ideal for giving the family a present . The good thing is its also going to keep all my records in one place now. The centre pages contain two separate family trees left side for father's family and right side for mother's family. Records for 5 generations.
From the centre pages to the front is your father's family and from the centre to the back is your mother's family. Each entry on the centre page is numbered and the corresponding page in the book will hold all the information about that person.
I also bought a blank A3 family tree. great to see everything at one glance.
Just thought I'd share.

Just in case anyone is interested in buying a copy this is the link

scroll down: the number of the book is AA535: there is also a page that gives the cost of postage for UK and outwith the UK
This is their emailaddress etc.

I have come up with a book idea.
Two separate Books for  my family and my wife family.
They will be alphabetical indexed by surname(Maiden for women).
For wedding Certs they will be an original  under the groom and a photocopy under the bride.
I will hopefully but Roots Magic after my holiday.
Thank you.

You could try this, it's free.

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp

scroll down and on the right you will see the paf family history software to download.

the 'companion' is for printing the trees, and will do three generations.  If you buy the full version (about £3) it will print any number of generations.

Hi,
I'm using Family Tree Legends deluxe v 5.0 on Vista, so I know that one definitely works with Vista.
I can't compare other  family tree software,  as it's the only family tree software that I've used both on my old computer that had  XP and now on my new computer which is installed with Vista.

Kind Regards:)
