1841 LONDON Census
« on: Wednesday 26 January 05 02:35 GMT (UK) »
Hi all

I was wondering whether sks would be able to do a lookup for me in the 1841 London census please?

The names are
George Wade
Eleanor Wade
and perhaps their son Charles.

I am not sure of the area but George Wade and Eleanor Elston were married St John Hackney.

Thank you in advance
Cheers Debbie from a hot and thundery Adelaide South Australia

Hi Debbie
sure is hot - not sure about the thundery - you must be in a different suburb.  Roll on the cool change.
Hate to tell you the sad news girl, but there is no index for 1841.   Would need a street and area to look up for you.
Do you have any more info?
Cheers from Whites Valley (Willunga)

Hi Cougar

I live in the Northern suburbs and we got a rumble or two, not much. This morning at 4am we had a few more rumbles. Today seems to be a little cooler.

I am sorry I do not know anymore about George and Eleanor Wade. I have no idea where they lived but George and Eleanor were married at Hackney? Perhpas they lived in the area.

Anyway thank you very much for trying to find them for me. They are my elusive ancestors and I will find them one day.

Hello

Doing a bit of 'housekeeping' and wondering if you're still looking for this information?

If so, an address from around 1841 would help.

Regards
Jonathan

Hi,

There's a George & Eleanor Wade in All Saints Poplar with several children (though not Charles). If you are still looking, I'll post the info.

best,
Mike

Hi Jonathan

I am sorry but I do not have an address of George and Eleanor Wade. I don't know much at all about this family.

Thanks anyway for offering

H702-2 p. 31
All Saints Poplar
Providence Place

George Wade, 30, shoemaker, N
Eleanor, 30, N
George, 11, Y
Thomas, 9, N
Hannah, 7, N
Eleanor, 4, N
Elizabeth, 2, N

It's rather intriguing that only George was born in England.

Hi Mike,
sorry for butting in, but just so you don't get too confused here.
On the 1841
Y means born London (which usually incorporates parts of Middlesex)
N means they were born out of London - eg. Cheshire, Warwick etc.
F means foreign though you don't see that very often
I means they were born in Ireland and rarely you will see
S meaning born Scotland.
Hope this helps,
Cougar
