Hi Cougar,

That's new to me -- the question at the top is 'Whether born in this country?', and I'd always taken Y and N at face value -- with, as you say, I and S meaning Ireland and Scotland.

I'll have to considerably revise my impression of the number of people born in London upwards, and the size of the immigrant population downwards!

aah! No, looking at the return carefully, I see the question is 'Whether born in the same COUNTY' -- oh dear, now I feel like a complete idiot.
