NEEP family
« on: Thursday 07 August 08 02:49 BST (UK) »
On this chilly day in Australia, hello!  :)

Oh dear...sorry...pushed the wrong key!!!!  ::) ::)

Frances NEEP married James ROBERTS 11 March 1850 Aston-on-Trent, Derby. (IGI) James Roberts and Frances Neep travelled to Australia on the Nabob on the 24/12/1854. They were accompanied by two daughters Ann and Elizabeth. (Biographical Index South Australia). I have also learnt that Frances' father's name was William and James' father was Joseph.

I would appreciate help to find this ROBERTS family on the 1851 census please, as well as census information that might possibly be available for  NEEP family members living in the area for this and the 1841 census when Frances would have been living with her family. It is possible they were living in the area of South Croxton. I think my Frances was born in South Croxton 4 Jun 1827. (IGI) I am trying to trace this NEEP family connection.

Hope that is reasonably clear!  ???

Cheers

Elsie

Hi Elsie Ellen, read your message regarding Neep family.  I am also searching for answers to Frances Neep married James Roberts.  Have you got any further with your search?  I have family details after they came to South Australia on the ship 'Nabob' but am unable to find anything earlier for both families.  Marriage shows Joseph Roberts father of James Roberts and William Neep father of Frances Neep but cannot go back any further.  Regards Shay Mary

I think she may be in Woodborough 1841, it's not far from Lambley, as female servant

HO107; Piece: 867  Folio: 6; Page: 5

George Beardall    10
William Foples    14
Frances Neep    14

but they are all in the household of William Duke, all born in Notts.

Also found this whilst looking

Death
Name:    Wm Geo Neep
Death Place:    Ballarat, Victoria
Age:    61
Father's Name:    Wm
Mother's name:    Frances Neep
Registration Year:    1885
Registration Place:    Victoria
Registration Number:    4090
Estimated Birth Year:    abt 1824

Did see that there was a William mentioned in Southwell in the newspaper and found so looked in Notts

Yorkshire, Archbishop of York Marriage licences index, 1613-1839 Transcription
First name   William Neep
Age    21
Birth year    1801
Residence parish    Kirby Bellars
Residence county    Leicestershire
Licence year    1822
Licence date    17 Oct 1822
Intended marriage place    Epperstone PC, Nottinghamshire
Spouse's first name(s)    Frances
Spouse's last name    Neep
Spouse's age    21
Spouse's parish    Epperstone
Spouse's county    Nottinghamshire

I didn't see a marriage in Leicester

There's one William in Southwell...tanner according to the paper but there are a few William Neep's of various ages, might be worth a look but hope this might go some way in helping

Looking at my disc and on NBI

Epperstone Holy Cross
William Neep 5 Apr 1841 age 51 abode Lambley
Frances Neep 3 Apr 1851 age 51 abode Lambley

1841 HO107/866/19/23/10
A Frances at Lambley here, but once I searched a bit more, found a tree with them but no census return. There is a Thomas 1841 census and the tree has him in Ballarat.
